While most insurance policies cover dental sealants for children, the same can’t be said for adults. That being said, dental sealants are a lot less expensive than fillings, crowns, and other types of restorative dental care.
It only takes one appointment to get dental sealants. In fact, the procedure is so simple that we may be able to fit it into your next teeth cleaning appointment. But that depends on our schedule.
First, we’ll clean and dry the back teeth that will receive the sealants. Then, we’ll place cotton or another absorbent material around the tooth to keep it dry during the procedure.
Next, we’ll use an acid solution to roughen the chewing surfaces of your molars. This helps to ensure that the sealant creates a strong bond with your teeth.
For the final step, we’ll paint the sealant onto the chewing surfaces of your teeth. We may then use a special curing light to help the sealant harden in place.
