Dr. Bandy offers same-day bridges, which means we’ll be able to restore your smile in one appointment. As the name suggests, a dental bridge will “bridge” the gap in your smile caused by tooth loss.
A same-day dental bridge consists of a prosthetic tooth that’s anchored by crowns on both sides. Depending on your circumstances, Dr. Bandy may place these crowns on either natural teeth or implants.
First, you’ll need to schedule a consultation with our dentist in Holly, MI. During your appointment, Dr. Bandy will examine your teeth, gums, and other oral structures. We may also take X-rays if it’s been a while since you’ve had your last ones.
In general, you may be a candidate for a same-day bridge if you have a missing tooth with healthy natural teeth or implants on both sides of the empty socket. Keep in mind that you may also be a candidate for a dental implant, which is why it’s important to explore all your with Dr. Bandy.
If Dr. Bandy determines that you’re a candidate for a same-day bridge, he may need to prepare your teeth to receive the dental crowns. If you have dental implants, we won’t need to do any preparation.
To prepare your teeth to receive the crowns, Dr. Bandy will need to file down and shape the enamel. That way, there’s enough space for the dental crowns to fit over top of the teeth.
Once you’re prepared for the procedure, we’ll take digital dental impressions of your teeth and send them to Dr. Bandy’s computer. From there, he’ll be able to design your right in front of your eyes. Dr. Bandy will also use a shade guide to ensure your new bridge matches the rest of your smile.
Once the design is ready, he’ll send it to the milling machine in our office. This machine will then sculpt your new dental bridge from a solid block of tooth-colored ceramic. When the dental bridge is ready, Dr. Bandy will place it over your teeth to make sure it’s the proper size, shape, and color.
Next, he’ll bond the one-visit dental bridge in place and check your bite. Once everything is perfect, you’ll be able to leave our office with your new smile.
